Our Engineering team is expanding and looking to add an Automation Engineer. We are looking for a dynamic and driven candidate who is interested in joining a quick-growing global company in the automotive sector.
Duties
As an Automation Engineer, you will design, program, simulate, and commission automated control systems for our manufacturing lines. You will work closely with cross‑functional engineering teams to integrate robotics, tooling, vision systems, and safety logic, ensuring our production systems operate with maximum efficiency, safety, and reliability. Other duties include:
PLC & HMI Programming: Develop, optimize, and debug PLC ladder logic and Structured Text alongside HMI/SCADA interfaces for new and existing production cells
System Design & Integration: Design industrial control architectures, specifying electrical components, networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet), and safety circuits
Cost Efficiency: standardize electric & pneumatic components for optimized performance and cost efficiency
Robotics & Hardware Interface: Integrate PLCs with 6‑axis industrial robots (e.g., FANUC, ABB), servo drives, and machine vision systems
Commissioning & Launch: Create or optimize a checklist for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT). Lead FAT and SAT activities to ensure equipment transitions from build to production seamlessly
Troubleshooting: Provide engineering support to plant floors to resolve complex automation, network, or hardware faults
Documentation: Create electrical schematics, network diagrams, and a comprehensive bill of materials (BOM).
To qualify for this role
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent technical experience.
5+ years of hands‑on experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs in an automotive OEM or tier‑1 manufacturing environment.
Proficiency with major control platforms, specifically Rockwell Automation Allen‑Bradley (Studio 5000) or Siemens (TIA Portal).
Strong ability to read and interpret electrical/pneumatic schematics and a solid understanding of industrial safety standards (ISO 13849/OSHA).
Must be fluent in English and at least one other language. Mandarin or Spanish fluency is highly preferred to facilitate communication with our global corporate offices and North American assembly plants.
Ability to travel up to 30% to North American manufacturing plants for equipment commissioning and launch support.
