Physiotherapist - Royal Columbian Hospital at Fraser Health Authority

Salary: CAD $42.56 - $52.95 per hour

Fraser Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Physiotherapist to join our team at Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) in Recent Westminster, BC. RCH is a regional referral centre and is undergoing the Royal Columbian Hospital Redevelopment Project (RCHRP).

New Westminster is located in the Greater Vancouver region and is accessible by public transit via the Sapperton SkyTrain station on the Expo Line.

Responsibilities

- Provides physiotherapy assessment of the patient's physical status, functional abilities, needs and goals through data collection, examinations, and collaboration with the health care team.
- Establishes physiotherapy diagnosis and prognosis and develops an evidence-based, outcome-focused intervention plan; sets short and long term goals with the patient and caregivers.
- Implements interventions per treatment guidelines and educates patients and caregivers on self-management and prevention.
- Participates in interprofessional care planning, updates care plans, and communicates to ensure seamless care transitions.
- Evaluates and documents intervention effectiveness, adapts plans to achieve optimal functional independence.




- Identifies referrals for physiotherapy services and facilitates connections to appropriate programs.
- Collaborates with patients and families to develop and modify the care plan, maintains therapeutic relationships, and upholds patient rights to privacy and autonomy.
- Maintains patient records and compiles statistics as requested.
- Delegates tasks to rehabilitation assistants with appropriate supervision and documentation.
- Provides physiotherapy information and in-services to the health care team and participates in team activities to support evidence-based practice.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Current full registration with the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia (CPTBC).

Skills and Abilities

- Knowledge of physiotherapy theory and practice within a patient- and family-centered model of care.
- Knowledge of CPTBC standards of practice and clinical guidelines.
- Knowledge of standardized physiotherapy tests, measures, equipment and techniques.
- Broad knowledge of other health care professions and their roles in patient care.
- Effective communication with patients, caregivers, and interprofessional teams (verbal and written).
- Ability to teach and provide consultation to patients, caregivers and health care professionals.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively; prioritize workload and adapt to unexpected events.
- Fundamental understanding of research processes and methodologies.
- Ability to operate related equipment and software; physical ability to perform duties.
