The Opportunity
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible to the Director of Care collaborating on the delivery of resident care to meet individual needs within their level of competency. They will integrate and apply the knowledge, skills, judgment, and interpersonal attributes required to provide safe and ethical professional nursing services to residents.
The RN provides quality and safe resident care, promotes teamwork, and fosters a culture that supports AgeCare’s Mission, Vision, and Guiding Principles of Respect, Teamwork, and Quality, while encouraging practices that respect resident, family and staff rights, individuality, and diversity. The RN promotes health and safety awareness in the workplace and plays a key role in fostering an environment that promotes resident safety and freedom from harm and injury.
What You Will Do
Coordinate nursing and other services for the residents within the neighbourhood and with other services within the residence.
Lead shift report with members of the health care team, ensuring that all team members are informed of changes in residents’ status.
Record significant changes in residents’ condition; ensure documentation in the residents’ chart adheres to AgeCare policies and procedures and Provincial College of Nurses and Standards of Practice.
Review and process physician orders as per procedure, ensuring orders are implemented as soon as possible. Immediately communicate any difficulties in processing physician orders to the Director of Care/Assistant Director of Care.
What You Will Bring
A sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long‑term care nursing including activation, nursing, and personnel administration.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Knowledge of the Fixing Long‑Term Care Act and Regulations, the appropriate sections of the Health Disciplines Act, Occupation Health and Safety Act, Pharmacy Act, Food and Drugs Act (Canada), Controlled Substances Act (Canada) Health Promotion and Protection Act,
Personal Health Protection Act, Coroners Act, Provincial College of Nurses and Standards of Practice and other pertinent federal, provincial and municipal statutes which influence the operation of the Nursing Home and more specifically the nursing department.
Registration and membership in good standing with provincial registry.

Salary
Salary: $36.06 per hour
