My client is seeking an experienced Controller to join their construction team. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, maintaining solid internal controls, and supporting overall business performance across active construction projects.

This is a key leadership role suited for a finance professional with strong experience in project-based accounting environments.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll

Manage full cycle accounting and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes

Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reporting package

Monitor project/job costing, WIP reporting, and construction-specific financial metric

Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedure

Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning activities

Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors and tax advisor

Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirement

Support leadership with financial analysis, forecasting,



and strategic decision-making

Supervise and mentor accounting/finance team members

Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fie

5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in construction or project-based environment

Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, and project accounting principles

Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Sage, Jonas, Viewpoint, or similar

Strong Excel and financial modelling skills

Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership abilities

Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operations and project teams

Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment

Able to balance operational accounting with strategic financial insight

Strong leadership presence with ability to support growing finance teams
