DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Caring for unconscious patients in a sterile environment.
Maintaining specialized instruments.
Using the nursing process to provide patient care.
Participating as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team.
Maintaining nursing records (electronic and manual).
Performing other related duties as assigned in the scrub and circulating role within many specialized services in the Operating Room.
QUALIFICATIONS
Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing).
Current BCLS.
Demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Significant recent experience in the Operating Room and completion of Certified Operating Post Graduate Course.
Proven organizational, interpersonal, problem‑solving and teaching skills.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete assignments in a reasonable time frame.
Proven ability to perform appropriately in emergency situations.
Proven ability to lift,
turn and transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids.
Demonstrated ability to assume a leadership/supervisory role.
Proven knowledge of care and maintenance of specialized OR equipment.
Preferred: CNA Perioperative Nursing Certification.
Preferred: Knowledge of invasive monitoring.
Preferred: Evidence of ongoing education.
Preferred: B.Sc.N.
Must have a satisfactory performance record.
