About the Role
As the Manager of Middle Office, you will be the focal point for all post-trading activity, and you will ensure that the trading activities are accurately managed. You will work closely with other functions such as trading, finance, legal and IT and you will be the Company’s primary contact person with external parties. This position reports to the Director of FP&A.;
Job Responsibilities
A Middle Office Manager oversees the Settlement team and processes that sit between the front office (revenue‑generating roles like sales, trading, origination) and the back office (accounting, admin).
Trading Process, Control and Risk Management
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of trade capture by overseeing the end‑to‑end lifecycle of trades from execution to settlement,
ensuring smooth workflow between front office, middle office, back office, and external counterparties
Manage and optimize daily operational procedures for trade capture (maintain trade blotter), validation, and provide deal confirmation
Manage exposure for all trading portfolios, including mark‑to‑market (MtM) calculations and potential future exposure analysis
Lead the reconciliation of trading positions and ensure consistency between front, middle, and back‑office systems
Identify process improvements, working with cross‑functional teams to enhance controls and implement automation solutions within the Middle Office.
Act as a primary resource for traders and accountants, addressing and resolving inquiries related to settlements, positions, and financial outcomes
Ensure completeness in the deals that need to settle each month
Trading Control
Monitor adherence to established trading limits and escalation procedures for limit breaches
Identify control gaps and implement corrective actions to strengthen the control environment
Settlements/Compliance
Oversee the preparation and submission of FERC regulatory filings
Manage the monthly settlement of energy and REC hedges and calculation and verification of the amounts owed or due.
Partner with accounting for precise month‑end reporting, specifically managing REC inventory reconciliation.
Perform RECs / RINs/ LCFS units tracking and delivery
Provide operational oversight to ensure transactions are accurate, compliant, and properly managed
Review P&L; and valuation – prepare risk and performance reports for leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business or relevant field
Have at least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in energy and/or risk management
Prior Middle Office experience including familiarity with MTM, Hedges, Forward Transactions and related reporting
Prior experience in a Treasury related role is an asset
Interest in the energy/power industry as a whole
Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, Microsoft Excel and related applications
Familiarity with commonly traded financial products, including Swaps, Futures, options and PPAs, and renewable energy credits, preferred
Familiarity with ISDA trade docs, preferred
Robust attention to detail, ability to work with a dynamic team, as well as individually in support of the overall company and department goals

Typical hiring range for this position is between $120,000 - $170,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. The Company offers annual bonus, group benefits and RSP program.
