Responsibilities

Confidently lead a team through the completion of a bid process for larger and complicated projects, including scope definition, risk profiling, division of work among team members, and facilitating executive review meetings.

Review drawings and tender documents to understand scope of work and submission requirements.

Assemble accurate, timely, and well‑organized estimates, including hard‑bid, construction management, and design‑build scenarios.

Prepare reports and lead executive bid review meetings.

Review schedule for accuracy and determine production rates.

Contact subcontractors and vendors for specific divisions to obtain external pricing.

Negotiate subcontractor and vendor pricing.

Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.

Organize sub‑contractor quotes when the bid is successful, re‑write binders, and assist the buy‑out process.

Distribute sub‑trade quotes to personnel, flag areas of concern, and coordinate with management to manage risk within the bid price.

Recognize and evaluate risks within each specific project and maintain a risk registry.

Maintain databases of labour rates, material pricing, and project costs for future reference.

Support the project handover process to the Project Delivery/Operation teams; assist with project material procurements when requested.

Work independently and as a team member.

Oversee pre‑qualification submissions, RFQs, and RFIs.

Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones.

Mentor and develop junior staff within the estimating department.

Maintain quality service by following organization standards.

Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing bid needs to ensure continuity among corporate, division, and local work teams.





Determine bidding standards to improve estimating bid quality and reduce estimating time.

Qualifications

Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Construction.

12+ years of civil construction experience with a focus on transportation infrastructure (roads, bridges, rail).

5+ years of estimating experience.

Project Management and Field Experience is an asset.

Positive communication and documentation skills.

Develop and manage budgets.

Familiarity with B2W Software would be considered an asset.

Well‑developed interpersonal customer service and relationship‑building skills.

Good oral and written English‑language skills.

Strong organizational and time‑management skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Self‑motivated, energetic, and reliable with a positive disposition.

Ability to work under pressure and prioritize work effectively.

Salary
$100,000 - $130,000
