Description: District Indigenous Education Counsellor, Grades K-12

Location: District position (Cranbrook & Elk Valley)

Contract Type: Full time Continuing (1.0 FTE)

Salary Range: The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $70,392 to $119,187, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Terms and conditions pursuant to the Collective Agreement between the Cranbrook and Fernie Teachers' Association and School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay).

Preference will be given to applicants with BC Teacher Certification.

Must have a degree/formal training and/or teaching experience in subjects and at a level specific to each posting.

Job Summary
District Indigenous Education Counsellor, Grades K-12

1.0 FTE continuing contract, starting September 8, 2026 or upon completion of the posting process.





Must have a Master’s Degree recognized by the BC Teacher Regulation Branch in Counselling, Psychology in Counselling or Psychology. Must have a degree/formal training and/or teaching experience at the K-12 level. It would be considered an asset to have training/experience in Indigenous ways of being and health. Preference will be given to Persons of Indigenous Ancestry.

This is a District position, and will support all of the communities within School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay).
