Position Summary
Focusing on the in‑house testing and quality assurance of newly manufactured low and medium voltage switchgear and control systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring our equipment meets rigorous quality standards and design specifications before shipment. This role offers a unique prospect to apply your technical expertise in a controlled, safe, and collaborative environment with minimal travel (approx. 5% for occasional field support). This position is primarily based in our manufacturing facility (approx. 95% in‑office/shop).
Key Responsibilities
Functional Testing: Perform full testing of protection and control schemes on custom switchgear.
Apparatus Testing: Conduct high‑voltage tests including Hi‑Pot, Partial Discharge (PD), BIL, and Heat Run.
Leadership: Lead and mentor a small testing team,
ensuring strict adherence to HV safety protocols.
Collaboration: Interpret complex schematics to troubleshoot and resolve issues with Engineering and Production.
Client Interaction: Lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) to demonstrate equipment performance to clients.
Field Support: Provide occasional (5%) remote or on‑site support.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience: Degree, or diploma in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of experience in low & medium voltage switchgear and power apparatus testing.
Technical Expertise: Expert at interpreting complex electrical drawings and performing hands‑on testing.
Soft Skills: Strong troubleshooting abilities, high attention to detail, and proficiency in MS Office for technical reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a switchgear manufacturing or testing environment.
Experience with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) procedures.
Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., CSA, IEEE, ANSI, NETA testing standards).
