Overview
In Business since 1919 and still growing, Arrow is a leader in bulk commodity hauling, reload operations, freight management, logistics, consulting, and technology with operations throughout Canada and the U.S.
We are looking for an experienced Grade Person for a project in Kamloops, BC .
The Grade Person is responsible for assisting with layout, grade checking, and field measurements on civil construction sites. This position plays a key role in ensuring excavations, road bases, trenches, slopes, and utility installations are completed to the correct elevations and alignments.

Responsibilities
Check, set, and maintain grades for civil construction activities, including roadworks, earthworks, underground utilities, and site development.
Read and interpret construction drawings, grade stakes, site plans, and project specifications.
Use hand levels, lasers, GPS equipment, measuring tapes, rods, and other layout tools to verify elevations and alignments.
Work closely with equipment operators to communicate required cuts, fills, slopes, depths, and finished grades.
Assist with layout and staking for excavation, trenching,
pipe installation, road base preparation, curbs, sidewalks, and drainage structures.
Monitor grade during excavation, backfill, compaction, and placement of granular materials.
Confirm pipe slopes, trench depths, bedding elevations, and utility alignments during underground installation.
Maintain accurate field notes, measurements, and basic records related to grade, layout, and quantities.
Work safely around heavy equipment, open excavations, live traffic, utilities, and other construction hazards.
Assist labourers and equipment crews with general civil construction duties when grade work is not required.
Follow company safety policies, site-specific procedures, and applicable occupational health and safety requirements.
Maintain tools, equipment, and survey/grade instruments in good working condition.
Help meet project goals by maintaining quality and staying on schedule.
Performing daily site assessments, including identification of potential work site hazards.
Perform basic tasks like raking, shoveling, and unloading materials.
Use hand tools to help shape and grade trenches.
Remove debris and keep the site clean.
Other tasks as directed by your supervisor.
You Possess
A minimum of 2 years of grading or pipe laying experience and civil construction required
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, grade stakes, elevations, slopes, and basic survey information.
HDPE pipe fusing and process water piping experience an asset
Experience working at a mine site is an asset
Strong safety mindset
Valid license and reliable vehicle for travel
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions (snow, rain, sub-freezing temps, heat, wind)
Solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
Ability to travel as required
