Become an Itinerant Literacy Teacher for School District No. 59, impacting students in Tumbler Ridge, Chetwynd, and Dawson Creek from September 2026. Ideal candidates will have a strong literacy background and a commitment to student success.
This role includes weekly travel across the district to support classroom literacy practices and enhance the reading skills of K-3 students. Must possess a Master’s degree focused on literacy or equivalent experience and hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate. Flexibility for after-school commitments is also critical.
Key Responsibilities:
• Weekly travel to support literacy initiatives in schools
• Facilitate reading assessments and develop intervention plans
• Conduct literacy workshops for educators across schools
• Assist teachers in tailoring lessons for diverse classrooms
• Collaborate with Literacy Resource Teachers for effective practices
Requirements:
• Master’s degree concentrated in literacy education
• Valid driver’s license and accessible vehicle
• Minimum of 3-5 years in K-3 literacy teaching
• Proven ability to adapt curriculum for students' needs
• Robust classroom management and teamwork skills
