In late summer 2026, Little Salmon/Carmacks First Nation (LSCFN) will open a new Youth Centre in the Village of Carmacks. The Centre will provide a safe, welcoming, caring, and inclusive space that provides a range of onsite and in-community programs and supports for youth and families to learn about and connect with their culture, improve their wellbeing, foster personal and collective growth, and help all young people thrive.

Qualifications

Completion of a high school diploma.

Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or extensive coursework in a human- or youth-serving field.

Valid class 5 driver’s license with no driving restrictions.

Experience managing or supervising facility-based programs or services.

Experience supervising and providing advice, mentorship, and coaching to staff.

Extensive knowledge of and experience providing youth-focused or community-based services.

Knowledge of positive youth development best practices and programming.

Knowledge of LSCFN history, culture, traditional values, and cultural practices.

Strong computer skills, including use of email, Microsoft programs, and electronic file systems.

Demonstrated ability to work in an empathetic, supportive way with youth.

Demonstrated understanding of how to provide trauma-informed care and supports to youth.

Demonstrated ability to be reliable and dependable.

Demonstrated ability to adhere to and provide advice and direction on policies and procedures.

Demonstrated ability to have reasonable and appropriate interpersonal work/personal boundaries.

Willingness to learn and grow in the position and receive feedback and advice.





Ability to model personal wellness for staff and youth through professional and personal conduct.

Ability to be available for irregular work hours, when needed.

Experience managing or supervising facility-based programs or services.

Duties
Reporting to the Education Director, the Manager is responsible for providing oversight, monitoring, and leadership to the program and staff, problem‑solving issues, and ensuring that the program operates in a safe manner. This is an exciting chance for the community to better support and uplift young people as the future leaders of LSCFN and community. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for the following duties:

Providing direction, oversight, and monitoring for Youth Centre programming and facility operations, including: providing direction and oversight for day‑to‑day operations; providing advice and guidance to staff regarding operational issues; problem‑solving challenges with staff; responding to complaints; ensuring the facility has supplies and resources needed to operate safely; and conducting quality assurance assessments, among other duties.

Hiring, scheduling, supervising, mentoring, and providing leadership to staff, including: recruiting, hiring,



and training staff; scheduling and coordinating leave coverage for staff; providing direction and supervision to staff; mentoring staff; working collaboratively with staff to problem‑solve issues; and building a positive teamwork environment, among other duties.

Providing support and direction to staff for programming and activities, and how to respond to conflict or challenges, including: working with staff to develop programming plans; providing input to staff on programming and activities, directing and supporting staff with responding to conflict and difficult situations; and reviewing and following up on incident reports, among other duties.

Liaising with community and service delivery partners, including: fostering collaborative relationships with youth service providers and community partners; and responding to questions about the program, among other duties.

Managing program administration tasks and completing other duties, including: monitoring the budget and approving expenditures; ensuring files are store confidentially; compiling and maintaining program data and statistics; drafting reports and briefing notes; and conducting file reviews, among other duties.

WORK HOURS
The Manager works a regularly scheduled shift of 9:00am to 6:00pm, Tuesday to Saturday, inclusive. However, given the nature of Centre operations and that programming and activities also takes place during evening and weekend hours, the Manager may be required to be available for irregular work hours. The Manager may work some weekends to provide supervisory oversight to weekend program staff. The Manager will be fairly compensated for any work callouts with time off in lieu.
