The Opportunity
TheSaskatchewan Hospital North Battlefordis hiring and invites you to join our team!

Mental Health Correctional Officersare professionals who work directly with adult offenders, holding them accountable and supporting positive change in their lives, whilemaintainingthe safe and secure operation of the facility.

Responsibilities

Maintain the safety and security of the facility through monitoring, supervising, and interacting with offenders;

Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to provide case management, appropriate interventions and programming to offenders following a therapeutic model;





Apply knowledge of mental health and addictions assessments, treatments and interventions to appropriately manage complex behaviours, prevent escalation and facilitate recovery;

Conduct routine patrols and supervise movement within the facility;

Perform security checks of the center and grounds;

Accurately interpret and apply legislation, policy, and procedures;

Prevent, respond to, and resolve incidents, using the safest and most reasonable intervention strategies.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of the Canadian criminal justice system;

Knowledge of human behaviour to support positive change;

A valid Saskatchewan issued Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent;





A valid First Aid and CPR/AED certificate with no less than 12 months remaining before expiration is required prior to the ITP start date.

Typically, the capabilities and skills required for this position would be obtained through a university degree in Social Sciences or closely related discipline, a diploma in Law Enforcement and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Physical Requirements
The COPAT requirement for employment has been temporarily replaced by a comprehensive medical evaluation completed by a licensed medical practitioner.

Should you receive a successful offer of employment, you will be enrolled into apaid, 11-weekInduction Training Program (ITP).The next ITP will start on October 5, 2026.
