Senior Metallurgist – Gold Processing
Location: Toronto(site-based, up to 50% travel to head office/site)

About the Role
This role provides hands-on operational metallurgy and process engineering support, with an initial focus on the client's primary processing operation. You'll turn complex plant data into actionable insight, validate metallurgical performance, and drive practical improvements to recovery, efficiency, and cost. You'll work closely with Metallurgy, Plant Operations, Geology, Geometallurgy, and Technical Services to solve processing challenges that require real analytical depth and follow-through.

10+ years of progressive technical, operational, engineering, and leadership experience, including at least 5 years in process operations

Hands‑on operational metallurgy experience in gold processing (lab‑only experience will not be sufficient)

Strong technical knowledge of flotation and leaching processes

Experience in precious and base metals processing, including water systems and tailings management

Strong analytical skills; comfortable working with large data sets, metallurgical balances, plant inventories, and performance trends

Experience reconciling predicted metallurgical/geometallurgical performance against actual plant results and investigating variances

Ability to review technical documentation, coordinate consultants, and support small‑scale process improvement initiatives across multiple teams

Fluent in Spanish and English

Able to present technical findings clearly and influence decisions without direct authority

Willing and able to travel to site up to 50% of the time

Preferred

Experience with complex or non-conventional processing flowsheets and challenging ore bodies

Experience working across multicultural, multi-site, and corporate teams

Experience coordinating RFQs, purchase orders, invoices, budgets, and related administrative work tied to technical initiatives

Key Accountabilities

Analyze and validate daily metallurgical reports; flag trends and provide actionable insight for decision-making

Support validation of month‑end metallurgical balances and plant inventories (gold, silver, copper in circuit); report anomalies

Gather and synthesize processing, metallurgy, and geometallurgical data to support operations, planning, budgeting, and continuous improvement

Support metallurgical/geometallurgical test work and validate recovery models against actual plant performance

Correlate mineralogical characteristics (tellurides, deleterious elements, abnormal sulfide content) with leaching kinetics and flotation performance to improve mine-to-mill strategy

Reconcile predicted vs. actual metallurgical/geometallurgical performance, investigate variances, and help refine recovery models and life‑of‑mine assumptions

Track plant consumables and reagent use against budget; identify cost and efficiency opportunities

Lead initial analysis and coordinate execution of small‑scale operational improvement initiatives

Coordinate consultant work, review technical documentation, and advise leadership on deviations, risks, and corrective actions
