Position Description
An Ecole Duchess Park Secondary School teacher is required for 0.5714 FTE (P3 & P4) (Semester One Only) to teach Science 9 & 10. The position is a limited duration contract. Applicants with assessment and trauma‑informed practice experience are preferred. We encourage applications from all qualified individuals, including Indigenous, Black, people of colour, all genders, 2SLGBTQ+, and persons with disabilities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or proof of application).
- Copy of letter from the TRB stating requirements to attain permanent certification status if certificate is conditional.
- Knowledge of Ministry of Education’s redesigned curriculum and core competencies.
- Evidence of appropriate qualifications and experience in teaching.
- A proven ability with assessment as and for learning strategies.
- Successful experience integrating local Indigenous culture and traditions into curriculum (knowledge of First Nations Principles and the Principles of Truth and Reconciliation).
- The ability to use a variety of teaching and learning strategies that can accommodate the learning needs of all learners in an inclusive setting.
- Successful experience integrating experiential and/or inquiry learning opportunities into the curriculum.
- Training and successful experience in teaching and supporting social and emotional learning.
- A proven ability to develop a positive learning environment in the classroom and evidence of strong organization and classroom management skills.
- A commitment to and successful experience working collaboratively in a team setting.
- Commitment to and demonstrated experience using and integrating technology into the curriculum.
- The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the greater community.
- A current, valid driver’s license and ability and willingness to travel as required.

Compensation
- Up to $1,000 relocation allowance for teachers’ relocation from within BC; up to $1,500 for teachers relocating from AB, SK & MB; and up to $2,000 for teachers relocating from all other provinces and out of country.
- Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $49,769 - $95,681, based on TQS and prior experience.
- Perks as per collective agreement with options to enroll in Dental, Extended Health, and Group Life Insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE.
