Water/Wastewater

Operator IIis responsible fortheday-to-dayoperations and maintenanceof the

Water

Distribution & Supply, Water Treatment, Wastewater Collection and Wastewater

Treatmentsubsystemsthat the Township of Perth Eastoperates.

The Operator ensures the continuous delivery of safe drinking water and the collection, treatment and environmentally responsible dischargeof wastewater whilecomplying withall applicable legislation, regulations,permitsand standard operating procedures.

The

Water/Wastewater Operator II may be called upon to act as the Overall Responsible Operator (ORO) of the Water and Wastewater Systems.

Core Responsibilities: Performmonitoring,operationandmaintenanceonall aspects of the systems including but not limitedtowaterdistributionsystems,watersupply andtreatment plants,reservoirs,wastewatercollection systemsincluding pumping stations, wastewatertreatmentplantsandthelandfill leachate collection system; Actas the

Overall Responsible Operator (ORO) and/or the

Operator in Charge (OIC) on all subsystems as scheduled orrequired; Provides oversight and guidance to the Water/Wastewater Operator I; Carry outmicrobiologicalandchemicalsamplingin addition toperformingin-houseanalysis to make process control changeson allsubsystems asrequiredin accordance withlegislative requirements; Participate in emergency repairs to any parts of the systems; Perform water meter readsasrequired; Assistswith investigatinggeneral publiccomplaints with respect to water and wastewater; Providetimelyandaccurateundergroundlocatesto the publicin regards towater and sewerincluding responding to emergencylocaterequests; Maintainutility maps in a clear and concise manner; Responsible for the safe and effective use of equipment; Participate in the ongoingdevelopment andimprovementof the Townships Quality Management System (QMS)including recommending changes andattendingQMS mandated meetingsincluding internalaudits; Carry out work assignments using a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment, including hand and power tools; Obtaintraining as required bytomaintaincertificationand licensurein accordance withlegislative requirements; Maintain asrequired, daily,monthlyand annual records in a neat and legible manner; Provides on-call dutiesas part of a rotation,includingevenings and weekends, as scheduled.

Qualifications: Secondary

School

Diploma or equivalent required; Mustpossessthe following certifications incompliancewith Ontario Regulation 128/04: Class IIWater Distribution and Supply; Class IIWater Treatment; Mustpossessthe followinglicensesincompliancewith Ontario Regulation 129/04: Class IIWastewater Treatment; Class IIWastewater Collection; Five(5) years ofexperience in a related field; Confined Space Entry and Rescue Certificate preferred; Valid Ontario Class G driver''s license in good standing with preference given to candidates with a Class DZ license.

Skills and Knowledge: Ability to workindependentlyand cooperatively within a team environment; Ability tointerpret operating manuals and engineering drawings relevant to the design and construction of facilities and the operation of equipment; Ability to performaccuratebasic mathematical calculations todeterminechemical dosages and flow rates, and ability to apply laboratory procedures and sampling techniques; Knowledge ofcurrent MECP water/ wastewater regulationsand the





Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA); Solid ability to problemsolve; Demonstratedknowledge ofhydraulic,electricaland mechanical systems; Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; Manual motor skillsto perform repairs and maintenance; Knowledge of Geographic Information System (GIS) software; Familiarity with Ontario One Call requirements; Working Conditions: Requiredto climb stairs and ladders, kneel, bend, walk, lift, and carry objects of varying weights; Requiredto work in confined spaces including chambers, maintenance holes, sewers, wetwellsand work with hazardous chemicals; Required to make site visits to water and wastewater treatment facilities.

Hours of work can varyconsiderably withovertimerequiredas needed.

Position Details: This is a position is full time, 40 hours per week.

On call rotation schedule. 2026 Hourly Pay Range - Grade 10: $33.53- $41.91 per hour.
