POSITION SUMMARY
A Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of equipment, machinery, and facilities within an organization. They are responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting issues, and conducting repairs to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment, machinery, and facilities according to established schedules.
Inspect and assess the condition of equipment to identify any potential issues or areas for improvement.
Troubleshoot equipment and machinery problems to determine the root cause and implement effective solutions.
Monitor equipment performance and efficiency, making adjustments or recommending upgrades as necessary.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and parts inventory.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols while performing maintenance tasks.
Collaborate with other departments or external contractors/vendors as needed to complete maintenance projects or address specific issues.
Participate in training programs to stay updated on new technologies, techniques, and industry best practices.
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and prioritize tasks based on criticality and impact on operations.
Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe, adhering to housekeeping standards and procedures.
Assist in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment lifespan and minimize downtime.
Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and cost‑saving initiatives related to maintenance activities.
Support facility operations during scheduled shutdowns, maintenance projects, or special events as required.
All other related job duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training or certification in maintenance-related field.
6 to 10 years’ experience performing maintenance on heavy equipment such as Roll Crushers, Finger Crushers, Compressors, Elevators, and Motors.
Extensive knowledge of bearings and gear boxes, forklift and bobcat preventive maintenance, spare parts and vendor management.
Basic Welding skills are an asset.
Experience in looking after maintenance activities within a plant setting is an asset.
Experience with Forklift or Bobcat Operation is required. Certification is an asset.
Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to maintenance work.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
