ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

NL Health Services – Eastern Rural Zone invites applications for a permanent full-time salaried Family Medicine Physician at the Dr. W.H.



Newhook Health Centre in Whitbourne, NL.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive primary care services to patients and families in Whitbourne and the surrounding area. The position includes a broad scope of practice encompassing ambulatory care, inpatient coverage, emergency care, and after-hours on-call coverage shared equitably among the physician group.

NL Health Services is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, and academic interests are encouraged and supported.

Work Environment

Whitbourne is a welcoming rural community located on the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland, approximately 90 kilometres west of St. John's. The area offers a relaxed lifestyle, easy access to outdoor recreation, and is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Avalon Peninsula.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
- Eligible for licensure as a Family Physician with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)

- Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide comprehensive primary care services including ambulatory clinics, inpatient coverage, and emergency care
- Provide chronic disease management, palliative care, and acute care services
- Participate in after-hours and on-call coverage shared equitably among the physician group
- Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of physicians and allied health professionals
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements

REMUNERATION

As per Memorandum of Agreement

Step assignment determined by the Department of Health and Community Services in accordance with Provincial Guidelines, with yearly progression thereafter.
