Located on the scenic waterfront in North Vancouver, Bodwell High School is a university-preparatory independent day and boarding school for students in Grades 8–12. For more than 35 years, Bodwell has welcomed students from Canada and around the world into a vibrant, multicultural learning community, with a rigorous academic program, solid student support, and a clear focus on university preparation. We are seeking an Accounting Officer to join our Accounting team and provide day-to-day support across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Position Summary The Accounting Officer works as part of Bodwell's Accounting team, providing support across day-to-day functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end activities. The specific mix of responsibilities will be shaped by the successful candidate's experience and the team's needs at the time, with particular value placed on the ability to provide flexible coverage across functions during vacations, leaves, and staff transitions.
Key Responsibilities The responsibilities listed below reflect the broad scope of work performed by the Accounting team. The successful candidate will not be expected to independently manage every area. Day-to-day duties will be assigned based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and the team’s operational needs. Broad knowledge of and familiarity with these areas will be considered a strong asset.
Accounts Payable
- Process vendor invoices and payment runs; reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Process employee expense reimbursements and reconcile corporate credit card transactions
- Maintain vendor records and supporting documentation
Accounts Receivable
- Support student billing, receipts, deposits, and account adjustments
- Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with collections
- Process tuition refunds and related account reconciliations
Payroll & Benefits
- Support semi-monthly payroll processing and prepare payroll changes and supporting documentation
- Support benefit administration and respond to routine staff inquiries
- Support statutory remittances and payroll reconciliations
General Accounting
- Prepare bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations
- Support journal entries and month-end/year-end close
- Support audit preparation and working papers
- Maintain organized, audit-ready accounting records
Team & Process Support
- Provide flexible coverage across AP, AR, and Payroll as needed
- Support documentation of accounting procedures and process/workflow improvements (e.g., Sage 50, Payworks)
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications Education & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
- 2–4 years of accounting experience preferred; exposure to AP, AR, and payroll support is an asset
- Experience with Sage 50, Payworks, or similar systems is an asset
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong Excel skills and excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach, with a willingness to learn across multiple accounting functions
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines; experience with process improvement or automation is an asset
- Knowledge of AI tools and their practical application in accounting and administrative processes will be considered an asset.

Pay: $60,000–$68,000 per year | Full-time, Permanent | In person, North Vancouver, BC
