The role saasberry is seeking a senior contract engineer to productionize an existing agentic software delivery framework for a brownfield enterprise .NET environment. The role focuses on the engineering system around agentic development, not conventional feature development or prompt engineering.
You will integrate GitHub Copilot Agent Mode with Azure DevOps through MCP, establish deterministic quality and release gates, modernize CI/CD workflows, and transfer the capability to the client team.
What you will do
· Productionize an agentic SDLC covering planning, implementation, automated testing, independent review, pull requests, deployment and production verification.
· Integrate GitHub Copilot Agent Mode with Azure Boards, Azure Repos, Azure Pipelines, testing and documentation through Azure DevOps MCP or related APIs.
· Implement branch policies, work-item traceability, least-privilege access, human approvals and auditable agent actions.
· Convert and standardize Classic and YAML pipelines using reusable templates, release controls, health checks and rollback procedures.
· Establish unit, component, integration and browser testing in areas with limited existing coverage.
· Diagnose .NET build, test, NuGet, Azure Artifacts and deployment issues across shared repositories.
· Coach engineers and QA staff to specify, direct, validate and operate gated agent delivery without long-term contractor dependency. This includes development and implementation of skills.
What you bring
· Hands-on experience implementing an agentic SDLC used to deliver real software.
· Deep Azure DevOps experience across Boards, Repos, Pipelines, Artifacts, branch policies, environments and approvals.
· Advanced experience with GitHub Copilot Agent/Plan Mode, VS Code and MCP-based tool integration.
· Solid CI/CD, test automation, release engineering and production-safety judgement.
· Solid practical knowledge of C#, modern .NET, NuGet and automated testing. Deep .NET feature expertise is helpful but secondary to agentic SDLC and Azure DevOps capability.
· Working proficiency with Visual Studio and the ability to troubleshoot Linux (priority) and Windows build environments.
· Clear communication, sound engineering judgement and a commitment to capability transfer.
Nice to have
.NET MAUI, Blazor, bUnit, Playwright or Selenium, Azure App Service, Application Insights, feature flags, multi-repository dependency management, Jira integration, or experience with secure brownfield enterprise systems.
What success looks like
· A repeatable and governed agentic path from approved requirement to production evidence. (preferably in enterprise environments)
· Enforced build, test, review, approval and release gates.
· Reusable Azure DevOps pipeline and policy patterns.
· A safe production change delivered through the modernized workflow.
· Client engineers and QA personnel able to operate and extend the lifecycle.
