This is a confidential temporary casual contract for an Assistant Coach position in the Athletics & Recreation department. The role supports the Varsity Sports Program management, coaching student athletes, overseeing competitions, and completing administrative duties.

Responsibilities

- Coaching student athletes for varsity sports teams.
- Planning and conducting practices and workouts.
- Attending OUA and U Sport competitions and championships as required.
- Managing administrative tasks related to the sports program.
- Ensuring compliance with UFA, U Sport, OUA, PSO/NSO, and department policies.
- Providing support during team events, including evenings, weekends, and varying shift durations.

Qualifications

- High School Diploma.
- Previous coaching experience at club, high school, or college/university level (preferred).
- Valid driver's license with clean abstract.
- First Aid Certification.
- Sport‑specific coaching certification and active membership with relevant sporting organization or PSO/NSO.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Efficient organization and creative thinking skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with student‑athletes.
- Ability to work independently.

Additional Requirements





- Must obtain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Willingness to travel to on‑campus and off‑campus games.
- Capable of handling objects weighing up to 70 lbs. and performing physical activities required for coaching.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, indoors and outdoors.
- Exposure to high noise levels requiring hearing protection.
- Potential exposure to blood‑borne pathogens.

Compensation and Work Hours

- Hourly Range: $31.68 – $35.70.
- Weekly Hours: Varies.
- Shift Duration: Variable; mainly evenings and weekends.
