The Assistant Supervisor is a member of the Child Care staff and reports directly to the Child Care Administrator. They will work closely assisting the Child Care Administrator in a variety of administrative tasks to support the Child Care.
The Assistant Supervisor will also be responsible for sharing the carrying of a group of children ranging in age from 18 months to 4 years as required. They are expected to be flexible and work different shifts as the need arises between different classrooms and in the office. They will also assist in setting up beds, laundry, screening and covering leads programming time as needed.
Requirements
- Must have a working knowledge on CCEYA 2014 and licensing standards
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with an approachable manner towards parents and colleagues.
- Proficient in Outlook, Excel and general computer skills
- Willingness to support a developmentally appropriate environment in which children can flourish.
- An understanding of child development from an Anthroposophical point of view is an asset.
- Willingness and ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and the parent community.
- Ability to lift and stack small beds and laundry baskets.
- First Aid certification, and Vulnerable Sector Screening (Food Handlers certificate is an asset)
- Waldorf Teacher Education certification preferred. Funding for Waldorf EC part-time training is available.
- R-ECE is a definite requirement.
- Experience in administration is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the program based on Waldorf Pedagogy.
- Responding in an age/developmentally appropriate manner when addressing the needs of the young child.
- Fulfilling work requirements in accordance with the agreed-upon daily schedule.
- Working independently when the need arises and assumes responsibility.
- Routinely tests the bleach solution mix (disinfecting solution) with test strips to ensure the dosage is accurate for all child care rooms.
- Setting up children's beds for rest time and maintaining bedding & supporting program teachers with various tasks when needed.
- Provide programming time relief to the lead teachers from 2:00 - 4:00 PM, four times a week.
- Provide coverage for staff (parent/staff meetings, emergency)
- Work in accordance with CCEYA regulations as outlined by the CCA/Supervisor.
- Assist with SeeSaw App posting
- Answer phones, filing, and taking notes
- Assisting the CCA/Supervisor with tour scheduling and conducting tours when the CCA/Supervisor is not available
- Assist the CCA/Supervisor with reporting to the ministry of Education
- Assist with the enrolment process and administration
Salary range is between $38,544 to $65,500 for a fulltime position and is determined based on years of experience and education. Advantages plan includes RSP contribution, health, vision, dental coverage and tuition remission as per the school's benefit policy.
