About Kikosewin FRN

The Kikosewin Family Resource Network (FRN) is an Indigenous-led, community-based prevention and early intervention network operated by Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society. The ICD spoke Early Connections, delivers group-based infant and child development programs for families with children ages 0–12, supporting healthy development and strengthening caregiver-child relationships.

About the Role

The Child Development Facilitator plans and delivers universal drop-in activities, targeted program cycles that support child development and build caregiver knowledge, confidence, and responsive parenting. As well as Intensive one on one supports during programing. This role uses developmental screening tools, observes children across developmental domains, identifies concerns early, and connects families to the right supports.

This work happens in groups alongside the Building Resilient Caregivers facilitator in some sessions, and independently in others. You will become a familiar, trusted face for families as they return to your programs ongoing. Your skill at noticing developmental milestones a child is or isn’t meeting, and your care in how you raise that with a caregiver, makes a real difference in children's developmental trajectories.



Please not this is not a Daycare and child care is not a part of this role.

Key Responsibilities

- Planning and facilitating universal drop-in activities including playgroups, Storytime and Songs, Messy Play, Active Play, and Developmental Screening Drop-Ins, all with an indigenous focus.
- Deliver targeted program cycles, Ready for Kindergarten, Baby Steps, Toddler Talk, Little Movers, Calm Kids, Circle of Connection to families with identified developmental concerns or caregiving challenges
- Administer and interpret the ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 developmental screening tools for Intensive services during cofacilitation with our Building Resilient Caregiver Facilitator. Providing one-on-one voluntary intensive support, supporting child development.
- Observe caregiver-child interactions and child development across sessions and document concerns factually
- Co-facilitate parallel children's programming during BRC caregiver sessions
- Debrief with BRC facilitator after every parallel sessionSupport warm referrals to Home Visitation or Community Health Nurse when concerns are identified for further support or referrals.
- Complete session summaries, attendance logs, and outcome measurement tools
- Participate in regular supervision and reflective practice

Qualifications

Education

- Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education is strongly preferred but experience equivalencies will be considered




- Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care or Social Work with demonstrated Early Childhood Education focus and training.

Experience

- Experience facilitating programs for children ages 0–12 and their caregivers
- Experience with developmental screening tools, particularly ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2, is an asset
- Experience working with Indigenous families using culturally grounded, strengths-based approaches
- Experience in group facilitation with caregivers and children

Knowledge and Skills and Abilities

- Solid foundational knowledge of infant and child development across all developmental domains
- Ability to observe and document child development and caregiver-child interactions factually and accurately
- Knowledge of attachment theory and responsive caregiving
- Understanding of the impacts of intergenerational trauma and colonization on Indigenous children and families
- Strong facilitation skills, able to engage caregivers in a welcoming, non-judgmental, strengths-based way
- Ability to raise developmental concerns with caregivers compassionately and professionally
- The ability to lift, set up and move large play items/structures.

Other Requirements

- Criminal record check and vulnerable sector check required
- First Aid/CPR required or willingness to obtain

- $49,100.00 - $51,555.00 annually
- Salary plus mileage for travel
- Paid sick and wellness days after 3 months’ probation (pro-rated)
- Extended Health Benefit (50/50 cost sharing) after 6 months’ employment.
- Working approximately 34.5 hours per week
