Project: Musselwhite

Location: Pickle Lake, ON Canada

Rotation: 14 days on, 14 days off

Shift Length: 12 hours

Travel: Flight from closest airport to Thunder Bay – Chartered flight to site

Accommodation: Remote Camp setting

Salary Range: $122,000 – $172,000 per annum (Construction Leader); $118,000 – $168,000 per annum (Construction Miner)

Job Summary

Construction Leader: Under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor and/or the Underground Superintendent, the primary role is to perform construction mining tasks efficiently with little to no supervision and guide less experienced construction miners. The role includes forming, concrete work, vent doors, man doors, vent walls, sump installations, pipe installation, ventilation and fan installations and more.

Construction Miner: The primary role is to perform shotcreting, building refuge stations, crusher stations, muck bins, conveyor installation, timber and concrete work, sump installations, vent tubing installation (air, water and pumping lines), and other construction and maintenance jobs as required.

Knowledge Required

- Minimum 3 years construction mining experience (required)
- Demonstrated ability to read mine plans and specifications for underground mining.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively.
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently.
- Respectful of cultural differences.
- Basic knowledge of the mining industry.




- Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
- Ability to read, review and understand Standard Work Procedures, safety programs and applicable mine regulations.
- Basic understanding and ability to read civil prints and or construction prints.
- Must have the ability to adapt to change.

Responsibilities

Construction Leader

- Work in coordination with project engineering and construction management when necessary to plan and clarify parameters and decide on processes to be utilized.
- Monitor, assess and report construction activities to help ensure acceptable progress on the project.
- Report any deviations in progress and suggest appropriate action as critical dates approach to ensure a smooth transition from phase to phase.
- Develop and lead crew to achieve planned objective.

Construction Miner

- Inspect existing underground headings.
- Knowledge of construction methods in the mining environment.
- Scale loose rocks and install ground support to stabilize rock mass and ensure overall safety in the workplace.
- Operate pneumatic hand‑held drills and various other construction tools.
- Operate hand‑held drills such as jacklegs and stopers.




- Use rubber‑tired underground mobile equipment such as LHD units, scissor trucks, boom trucks, shotcrete sprayers and other support vehicles.
- Follow established regulatory, company, and client rules and regulations.

Health And Safety

- Have authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
- Follow Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and report any unsafe acts or conditions.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.
- Have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.
- Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area.

Qualifications

Education

- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core – Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent).
- Required Specialty Modules: U0085a, U0085b, U0085c & U0086 (or other provincial equivalent).

Work Experience

- Minimum 3 years construction mining experience (required) – for Construction Leader.
- 2 years’ experience in a related construction role – for Construction Miner.
