. The opportunity

Reporting to the Founder and CEO, the Controller will serve as the firm's hands-on bookkeeper, accountant, and strategic financial advisor. The Controller will maintain accurate, current, and audit-ready records; lead full-cycle accounting and financial administration; strengthen controls and processes; and translate financial information into practical insight that supports sound decisions and sustainable growth.

This prospect is suited to a trusted CPA who enjoys moving comfortably between detailed transaction work and higher-level financial analysis. Recurring bookkeeping is a central part of the position: the successful candidate must be willing and able to personally complete the day-to-day work while also improving systems and advising leadership. Key responsibilities

Own day-to-day bookkeeping and full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, banking, reconciliations,



journal entries, and supporting documentation.

Maintain accurate workflows across cloud accounting, document-management, payment, banking, corporate-card, payroll, and client invoicing platforms.

Lead month-end and year-end close, prepare working papers and reconciliations, and coordinate effectively with external accounting advisors.

Prepare and track client invoices, manage collections and subcontractor payments, and resolve billing, allocation, and documentation issues.

Maintain cash-flow forecasts and provide timely financial reports, dashboards, analyses, and recommendations to the Founder and CEO.

Support budgeting, forecasting, revenue recognition, deferred revenue, accruals, profitability analysis, and financial planning.

Administer semi-monthly employee and contractor payroll, benefits, reimbursements, vacation records, and related accruals.

Manage GST, WCB, insurance, tax-remittance, payroll, and other statutory and compliance requirements.

Strengthen internal controls, document recurring procedures, streamline workflows, and improve financial visibility.

Build trusted relationships with colleagues, contractors, clients, vendors, financial institutions, advisors, and regulators while protecting confidential information. Qualifications

CPA designation in good standing and a bachelor's degree in business or a related discipline.

At least seven years of progressive accounting and financial-management experience.

Demonstrated,



recent hands-on experience with full-cycle bookkeeping and accounting in a small or mid-sized organization.

Experience leading close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and compliance activities.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and sound financial-management practices.

Advanced proficiency with cloud accounting and bookkeeping platforms and Microsoft Excel.

Exceptional accuracy, organization, judgment, accountability, discretion, and follow-through.

Ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial audiences and work independently in a collaborative, high-trust environment. Assets

Professional-services experience.

Experience with Xero, Hubdoc, Plooto, Wagepoint, or comparable platforms.

Experience with GST, WCB, employee benefits, vacation accruals, and insurance documentation.
