Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our agile kitchen team. As a Cook, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our food service by preparing high-quality meals in a fast-paced environment. Your expertise in food preparation and safety will contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook Indian dishes such as curries, tandoori items, biryani, naan, appetizers, and sauces
- Follow recipes, portion sizes, and food presentation standards
- Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, marinating, grinding spices, and making sauces
- Operate kitchen equipment such as stove, tandoor, fryer, grill, and ovens
- Maintain consistent taste, quality, and food safety standards
- Check food inventory and inform the kitchen manager when supplies are low
- Store food properly and label/date ingredients
- Follow FIFO (first in, first out) procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation
- Wash and sanitize cooking equipment, utensils, and surfaces
- Follow health and safety regulations, including temperature control and hygiene practices
- Assist with menu preparation and daily kitchen prep
- Work with kitchen staff to coordinate orders during busy service periods
- Train or assist junior kitchen staff when required
- Minimize food waste and control portions
- Handle customer orders and special dietary requests when needed
Requirements
- Previous experience in a indian restaurant or food service environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for food handling.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Passion for cooking and a desire to learn new techniques in the kitchen.
