The Early Childhood Educator plans and organizes activities for preschool children that reflect the values and attitudes of early childhood education and community living. This person provides support and direct care to children, encouraging their cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and creative growth. They are committed to a family-centred approach and practice that celebrates the gifts and uniqueness of every child.
They are a dedicated and knowledgeable member of an organization-wide support team and are empowered through an action planning process to provide excellence in service provision.
Basic ECE
- Early Childhood Education Certificate, with over three years of experience supporting children and families, including those with special needs
- Infant Toddler Certificate preferred.
- Post-Basic Special Needs Certification, with valuable experience supporting children requiring additional assistance will be considered a strong asset.
- Knowledge and understanding of British Columbia’s Early Learning Framework (ELF)
- Demonstrated excellence in written, verbal, and nonverbal communication
- Demonstrated ability and experience to deliver inclusive programming with a sensitivity to people from diverse cultural, health and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Holds current certification in CPR and First Aid.
- A transparent and current Criminal Records Check is required.
