Required and Necessary:

Qualifications:

- A graduate of Bachelor of Education-Elementary (BEd);

- Valid Alberta Teachers Certificate (current interim or permanent certificate);

- A cleared Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check (not dated more than six months before the starting date) and Child Intervention Record Check;

- Current First Aid certificate (nice to have but not mandatory).

Responsibilities:

- Reports to and carries out directives from the Head of School/IB PYP Coordinator and translates yearly curriculum concepts and goals to lesson plans and activities.

- Proficient in the Alberta Program of Studies (recent curriculum), demonstrated proficiency in STEAM, and willing to learn or receive training in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP).

- Plans and implements learning activities that are developmentally appropriate for the children in the program and in accordance with the school’s philosophy, values,



and curriculum objectives.

- Engages young learners through various instructional materials, meets educational goals per trimester, and adheres to the school’s academic standards.

- Take leadership in assessing children’s needs and safety indoors or outdoors (playground/nature discovery walks).

- Maintains accurate and complete student attendance records, progress reports, and incidents.

- Promotes open communication and works cooperatively as a valued team member.

- Maintains the school’s educational climate and working environment that encourages, supports, and actively contributes to outstanding student learning outcomes, parent engagement, and teachers’ professional development.

- Perform other additional duties as required.
