Experienced Barista / Café Counter Staff

Sweet Thea Bakery – Main Street, Vancouver

Sweet Thea Bakery is looking for an experienced barista and customer service professional to join our growing team at our Main Street bakery café.

Located near Queen Elizabeth Park and Nat Bailey Stadium, Sweet Thea is an artisan bakery, café and neighbourhood gathering place. Everything we sell is made with real ingredients and baked from scratch by our own team. We are proud of the reputation we have built for quality, friendly service and genuine hospitality.

About the Position

This is a full time permanent position of approximately 4–5 shifts per week (about 28–35 hours). Shifts will include weekends and some statutory holidays.

Our café is busy, so we're looking for someone who remains calm under pressure, communicates well with teammates, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

- Prepare high-quality espresso-based beverages and other café drinks
- Welcome customers and provide warm, professional service
- Take orders and operate our Square POS system
- Package bakery products and assist customers with selections
- Help prepare simple breakfast and lunch menu items
- Maintain a clean, organized and food-safe work environment
- Restock displays and support the team throughout the day
- Work closely with bakers and café staff to keep service running smoothly

We're Looking For Someone Who
- Has at least two years of barista experience in an independent café,



specialty coffee shop, bakery café or similar environment
- Can consistently produce quality cappuccinos, lattes and espresso drinks
- Enjoys providing exceptional customer service
- Works well in a team and communicates clearly
- Learns quickly and takes initiative
- Is reliable, punctual and takes pride in their work
- Speaks fluent English, as clear communication with customers and coworkers is essential during busy service periods

Please Note Because we bake on-site throughout the day, this position is not suitable for applicants with significant gluten or dairy sensitivities.

Our bakery is located at Main Street and East 32nd Avenue. Some transit routes require transfers, so applicants who live within a reasonable commuting distance may find the position more convenient.

Applicants selected for the next stage may first be invited to a brief Zoom interview, followed by an in-person interview and paid training shifts.

Before You Apply This position is intended for applicants with genuine café barista experience. Experience limited to high-volume quick-service food operations alone is unlikely to be sufficient for this role.
