Location: Salmon Arm, BC The Shuswap Trail Alliance (STA) is seeking one highly motivated team member for our Fall Trail Crew to work on trail maintenance and field projects for the fall to early winter. The STA works on a variety of trail development and maintenance projects throughout the Shuswap. Being a recreational trail user and having experience in trail construction and maintenance an asset, but training will be provided.

The Trail

Crew reports to the Project Operations Manager of the Shuswap Trail Alliance.

Position Title: Fall Trail Crew

Tasks of the Fall Trail Crew May Include:

· Clearing corridor and building tread

· Building boardwalks, stairs and stiles

· Trail maintenance, clearing, brushing & pruning

· Sign design and installation

· Planning assistance

· Operating small equipment such as skid steers, mini dumpers, and compactors

Relevant skills and abilities:

· Knowledge of trail design and construction techniques

· Carpentry skills

· First aid level 1 and transportation endorsement

· Completion of Basic Chainsaw Safely Course

· S100 forestry fire fighting

· Back-country safety expectance

· Knowledge of safe use of power tools and hand tools

· Ability to wok in inclement weather

Qualifications:

· Class 5 driver’s license (drivers abstract required)

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Anticipated End Date: November 30th,



but may change dependent on weather

Wage: $24 - $28 dependent on experience

Hours: Full time (40 hours per week)

Term: Term contract position
