CCI Inc. (CCI) is seeking experienced Field Environmental Technicians to support our Environment and Regulatory Division as independent contractors or subcontractors on a project-by-project basis throughout Alberta and British Columbia.

CCI has established itself as the go-to company of highly qualified and experienced pipeline, facility, trenchless, construction, geotechnical, and environmental specialists working together to deliver integrated solutions for our clients. We are looking to expand our network of qualified environmental professionals who can support field programs, environmental monitoring, and Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) drilling waste management projects as opportunities arise.

This opportunity is well suited for environmental professionals who enjoy field-based work, value flexibility, and are interested in supporting a variety of environmental and regulatory projects across multiple industries. This is a subcontractor opportunity, not an employee position. Work will be assigned based on project needs, contractor availability, qualifications, location, and client or regulatory requirements.

As a subcontractor supporting CCI project teams, you may be engaged to complete field and technical support services on environmental programs associated with pipeline, utility, energy, transportation, and infrastructure projects. Collect soil, groundwater, drilling waste, and environmental samples in accordance with regulatory and project requirements.

Conduct field monitoring and compliance activities for HDD waste management programs and Alberta Energy Regulator Directive 050 projects.





Perform field screening and testing of soils, groundwater, and drilling waste materials.

Identify soils, vegetation communities, land use features, and environmental constraints during field programs.

Maintain accurate and detailed field notes, inspection records, chain-of-custody documentation, and photographic records.

Operate environmental monitoring, sampling, GPS, and field data collection equipment.

Support environmental site assessments, monitoring programs, reclamation activities, construction support, and compliance inspections.

Collect, organize, and submit environmental data and supporting information for project deliverables.

Work safely and effectively in remote and rugged environments under varying weather conditions.

Represent CCI professionally when interacting with clients, contractors, landowners, Indigenous communities, and regulators.

Follow all applicable project health, safety, environmental, quality, client, and regulatory requirements. What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Biology, Agrology, Reclamation, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline.

Previous environmental field experience.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Experience using GPS units, digital cameras, tablets, and field data collection platforms.

Ability to work independently while integrating effectively with CCI project teams and client representatives.

Ability and willingness to travel throughout Alberta and British Columbia.

Ability to perform physically demanding field work in remote environments.

Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract.

Current industry safety certifications such as PCST, CSTS, First Aid, H2S Alive, WHMIS, Ground Disturbance, or equivalent.

Preferred Experience Experience supporting Alberta Energy Regulator Directive 050 compliance programs and/or compliance experience with the provisions of the Drilling Waste Management Chapter of the BC ER’s Oil and Gas Handbook.





Experience collecting soil, groundwater, or drilling waste samples.

Experience generating borehole logs for soil profiles during shallow geotechnical investigations.

Experience with construction environmental monitoring or environmental inspection.

Experience with water quality monitoring, fish habitat assessment, fish salvage, and wildlife sweeps.

Knowledge of Alberta and British Columbia environmental regulations and compliance requirements.

Experience with reclamation assessments, post-construction monitoring, or environmental site assessments.

Experience using ArcGIS, Survey123, or related geospatial data collection tools.

Proof of eligibility for or membership in a professional organization such as AIA, ASPB, APEGA, BC CAB or an equivalent qualified association is considered an asset.

Requirements

Successful subcontractors may be required to provide the following before being assigned to project work: Current resume or corporate profile outlining relevant experience and service capabilities.

Current safety certifications relevant to project assignments.

Proof of commercial general liability insurance and other insurance coverage as required by CCI or the client.

Workers' compensation coverage or confirmation of independent operator status, where applicable.

Ability to provide or access PPE and field equipment suitable for environmental fieldwork, subject to project requirements.

Ability to mobilize to project locations on short notice when opportunities arise.

Agreement to follow applicable CCI, client, site-specific, and regulatory health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.

Locations

Project assignments are anticipated throughout Alberta and British Columbia. Assignments may require extended stays in the field, work in remote locations, and travel under project-specific scheduling requirements.
