& online auctions.

Cowley Abbott holds two live auctions in Toronto each year, in conjunction with the global auction schedule in the spring and fall, in addition to monthly online auctions of Canadian and

International art. Artworks are available for in-person viewing for both online and live auctions.

Cowley Abbott also offers artwork for private sale, formal appraisals and collection management services. The Cowley Abbott team regularly collaborates with institutions and organizations across Canada for charity auctions, valuation days and speaking events.

Includes (but is not limited to):

- Sourcing works of art for auctions and private sales in Montreal and surrounding areas in order to meet the total Department sales and profit targets
- Participate in art valuation and proposals, preparing estimates and professional responses in a timely manner
- Contribute to cataloguing, research, condition reports, and art writing for live auction catalogues and online sales
- Actively participate in events to promote Specialist Departments and the company as a whole within the region




- Track client interest and potential consignments while communicating these developments with the Directors
- Ensure a consistent, client focused message, delivering a high standard of active client management
- Work with tight deadlines
- Assist with live auctions and events in Toronto, as needed

Qualifications and Experience:

- 5 plus years of experience in a similar role; robust knowledge of auction cycles and previous auction experience an asset
- Strong knowledge of Canadian art history (International Art knowledge considered an asset)
- Including 2+ years in a client-facing sales position preferred
- University-level education in Art History or a related field
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Bilingual in English and French (oral and written)
- G Class Driving license
- The candidate will work closely with the teams in Toronto and Calgary with emphasis on business-getting and consignments
- Advanced level of IT capability (i.e. ability to independently use the Client System)
