White Canvas Design Agency is looking for a seasoned Freelance Front-end Web Developer to join our agile team of "do-ers." Start Date: As projects become available.

Employment Type: Independent Contractor (Freelance)

Wage: Project-based independent contractor. Projects are typically quoted using your standard hourly rate or a mutually agreed project fee.

What You'll Do

As an integral part of our creative production, you’ll be the force behind our technical builds. You won’t just be "coding"—you’ll be bringing pixel-perfect visions to life for clients who care about impact.

- Custom WordPress Development: Execute high-end, custom WordPress theme builds from scratch, utilizing the Sage 10 framework, Gutenberg, and ACF Composer to deliver clean, performance-optimized sites.
- Modern Workflow & Deployment: Manage end-to-end technical workflows, including staging environments, automated deployment, and version control via GitHub.
- Team-oriented Design-to-Code: Collaborate closely with our design team to translate Figma mockups into pixel-perfect, fully accessible digital experiences.
- Cross-Platform Support: Secondarily,



provide development support for existing Shopify and Squarespace client sites as needed to ensure seamless user experiences.

Who You Are You are a curious, self-directed developer who values quality and efficiency. You understand that behind every line of code is a human experience.

- Experienced: You have 5+ years of experience crafting custom WordPress themes. You have a strict 'no page-builder' policy and prefer building performant, component-based code over off-the-shelf themes.
- Technically Fluent: You are an expert in PHP, JavaScript, SCSS, and the WordPress Gutenberg ecosystem.
- Remote: You are comfortable working remotely, with the availability to visit our Langley office occasionally for team planning.
- Effective Communicator: You are self-directed and highly organized. You are fully reachable during PST business hours and integrate seamlessly into our regular standups via Slack, prioritizing transparency in project scoping and estimated delivery times.
