Head Instructors run on-ice skill development programs for hockey players at various levels – mostly 4 to 12 years old. The objective is to ensure quality programs are planned and executed, providing the prospect for development and enjoyment.

Employees within this job classification must possess strong interpersonal skills. Communication with participants and customers is required to ensure the program meets and exceeds customer expectation. The Head Instructor position is differentiated from that of the Assistant Instructor through the level of skill, teaching experience, preparedness, and responsibility required.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

- Develop practices and relevant drills for our skill-specific programs.
- Provide a safe environment for participants by ensuring The Zone Training safety regulations are being met.
- Communicate with participants and the customer (parents) to ensure satisfaction.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Assistant Instructors.
- Miscellaneous administrative tasks for approximately 5-10 hours per week to assist with staff management, program/league management and customer service.





Job Requirements

- Experience instructing hockey programs and camps as a Head Instructor for 5+ years
- Experience playing hockey at an elite level (Jr. B or higher)
- Extensive knowledge of hockey fundamentals and skill development methods
- Strong planning and time management skills
- Must be physically able to skate for 50 minutes for up to 6 hours in a row
- Responsible for up to 12 participants at a time.
- Valid Frist Aid & CPR – Level C Certificate

Schedule: Weekdays: as early as 3:30pm - 10:30pm

Sunday: 11:30am – 5:30pm

Hours may fluctuate slightly based on bookings.
