Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to fill the role of Garden Maintenance Crew Leader, to oversee and participate in the maintenance and enhancement of high-end residential landscapes. This leadership role involves guiding a team in executing gardening and horticultural tasks to ensure the highest standards of aesthetic appeal and health of green spaces. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of plant care, planting techniques, proper horticulture practices, as well as the safe use of battery powered hand tools.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of garden maintenance workers to complete daily tasks efficiently and safely which include but are not limited to, weeding, edging, pruning, planting, raking and mulching
- Operate battery powered hand tools safely for various gardening tasks
- Communicate effectively with the owner/operator of the company of any issues on site that need followed up with
Qualifications
- At least 5 years' experience in garden maintenance
- At least one year's experience in a leadership role is an asset
- A diploma or degree in a horticultural program is an asset
- Experience with battery powered hand tools used in landscaping and garden care
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods
- Valid G driver’s license is required
- Prior experience leading a crew or team in a landscape or garden setting is highly desirable
- Experience driving a full-sized pickup truck and use of a small dump trailer is an asset
