Geotechnical Inspector

The Geotechnical Inspector is a trusted technical expert at the forefront of mine safety and environmental protection in British Columbia. Overseeing geotechnical risks associated with tailings storage facilities, dams, open pit slopes, waste rock dumps, and underground workings, this role helps ensure protected, responsible, and compliant mining operations. Through a blend of inspections,



investigations, and technical guidance, the position makes a meaningful difference in protecting workers, communities, and the environment while supporting confidence in the province's mining sector.

Qualifications for this role include:

- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in geological, mining, or geotechnical engineering. Preference may be given to advanced degree(s).
- Minimum three (3) years of post-graduation experience in geotechnical engineering or mining engineering. Preference may be given to those with mining experience and those with underground design experience.
- Must have a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

Professional Registration and Certification Requirements:
- Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC). Note: “Immediately eligible for registration” means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the process of obtaining full registration with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment.
