Buffalo Trail Public Schools is seeking a passionate, student-centred educator to join the team at Amisk School as a Grade 1 teacher for Semester 1 of the 2026–2027 school year.
This full-time temporary position offers the opportunity to work with young learners during an exciting stage of their educational journey while becoming part of a collaborative and caring rural school community. Specific Position Duties
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Training and/or experience in early literacy and numeracy instruction
- Experience creating engaging and developmentally appropriate learning environments that support the social, emotional, and academic growth of young learners
- Knowledge of and experience implementing differentiated instruction and inclusive practices to support diverse learning needs in a Grade1 classroom
Qualifications and General Duties
The successful candidate will possess:
- A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- A student-centered philosophy committed to maximizing student learning in a safe and caring setting
- Experience and/or training in Assessment for Learning, including formative and summative assessment practices
- Proficiency with Google Workspace for Education and educational technology to support communication, collaboration, and student learning
- The ability to foster positive relationships and create a strong sense of belonging for students
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team
- A demonstrated commitment to professional growth and reflective practice aligned with the Alberta Teaching Quality Standard
- A willingness to contribute to extracurricular opportunities and the broader school community would be considered an asset
