About Seta Connectivity

Seta Connectivity is a Montreal-based deep-tech startup redefining what's possible in wireless communication. By harnessing the interplay between sound, spin, and radio waves at the nanoscale, Seta has developed a breakthrough MEMS antenna technology that overcomes fundamental size limitations in classical antenna design. Our ultra-compact, high-performance antennas open new frontiers across consumer electronics, wearables, satellite communications, and medical implants.

The Opportunity

As Head of Science, you'll be driving Seta from early-stage research to product reality. You'll set the technology strategy, lead the research team, and own the bridge between cutting-edge physics and a deployable, scalable product — all while helping shape the company's direction at the leadership level.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Roadmap

- Define and own Seta's technology roadmap, balancing scientific ambition with commercial and fundraising timelines.
- Make transparent prioritization calls across competing R&D; directions and technical bets.
- Translate physics breakthroughs into engineering milestones and product requirements.
- Oversee IP strategy, patent filings, and freedom-to-operate analysis.
- Monitor competitive and academic developments across RF, magnonics, micro-acoustics, and adjacent fields.

Technology Development & Product Execution

- Lead the end-to-end development of Seta's antenna technology — from device concept through prototype, validation, and scale-up.
- Own the architecture of core systems: MEMS design, RF performance, fabrication process.




- Drive rigorous experimental processes to accelerate development cycles.
- Collaborate with external foundries and research partners to advance fabrication and device yield.

Team Leadership

- Build, hire, and mentor a multidisciplinary team spanning physics, RF engineering, and MEMS.
- Set technical standards and create a culture of accountability, curiosity, and execution.
- Be a hands-on leader — willing to go deep technically while effectively delegating as the team grows.

Business & Investor Alignment

- Partner with the CEO on fundraising, positioning Seta's technology clearly and credibly to investors.
- Support grant applications, government programs, and strategic partnerships with technical depth.
- Represent Seta externally — at conferences, with customers, and with ecosystem partners.

Qualifications

- Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
- Deep expertise in at least one of: RF/microwave engineering and antenna physics; magnetism/magnonics/spintronics. Familiarity with adjacent domains (micro-acoustics, photonics, plasmonics) is a strong asset.
- Ability to take deep-tech from lab to prototype to manufacturable product.
- Familiarity with IP strategy, patent processes, and technical due diligence.
- Strong communicator — able to convey complex physics to investors, partners, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial mindset: decisive under uncertainty, able to prioritize ruthlessly, and energized by 0-to-1 challenges.
