Rock Construction & Mining is seeking a highly organized and motivated Health, Safety, Recruitment & Travel Coordinator to join our team in Kamloops, BC.

This role plays a key part in supporting our field operations by promoting a solid safety culture while coordinating recruitment, employee onboarding, and travel logistics. The successful candidate will work closely with management, supervisors, and field employees to ensure our workforce remains protected, well-trained, and properly mobilized for projects throughout British Columbia.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Health & Safety

- Develop, implement, and maintain company Health & Safety programs specific to drilling, blasting, excavation, and construction operations.
- Promote and foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
- Conduct regular site inspections, hazard assessments, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
- Provide on-site safety coaching and support to supervisors and field crews.
- Lead incident investigations, complete root cause analyses, and track corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations, Occupational Health & Safety legislation, explosives regulations, and client safety requirements.
- Develop and maintain safe work procedures, emergency response plans, and other safety documentation.
- Maintain employee safety training records and certifications.
- Coordinate safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Track and report safety statistics including incidents, near misses, inspections, training compliance, and leading indicators.
- Manage contractor compliance platforms including Avetta, Cognibox, and ISNetworld.
- Coordinate company drug and alcohol testing programs, including pre-employment, post-incident, reasonable cause, and client-required testing.
- Assist the estimating team with safety statistics, COR documentation, and project prequalification requirements.
- Liaise with clients, inspectors, and regulatory agencies as required.
- Communicate significant safety concerns and recommendations to management.

Recruitment





- Prepare and manage job postings across multiple recruiting platforms.
- Screen applicants, coordinate interviews, conduct reference checks, and prepare employment offers.
- Assist managers with hiring decisions and workforce planning.
- Coordinate employee onboarding, orientations, and required pre-employment documentation.
- Schedule pre-employment medicals, drug testing, and required certifications.
- Maintain employee personnel files and HR documentation.

Travel Coordination

- Coordinate travel arrangements for field employees, including flights, hotels, rental vehicles, and camp accommodations.
- Prepare employee travel itineraries.
- Coordinate crew mobilization and demobilization for projects.
- Work closely with Operations to ensure travel aligns with project schedules.
- Track travel costs and resolve travel-related issues.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications and Experience

- Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Health & Safety, HR, recruitment, or a related construction, mining, or industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and occupational health and safety legislation.
- Experience with recruiting and employee onboarding.
- Experience coordinating employee travel is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
