and Responsibilities

- Operate and maintain heavy motorized equipment to safely and efficiently unload and load ferrous materials.
- Collaborate with the scale operator and office staff to unload customers and ensure a steady flow of traffic in and out of the yard, minimizing congestion.
- This is a year-round position.
- Operate heavy motorized equipment used in loading/unloading of ferrous material, including, but not limited to loaders, cranes, grapple cranes, shear and other equipment used to support the variety of activities essential to the yard operations
- Ensure motorized equipment is properly maintained and perform preventative maintenance as required, including fluids, filter changes, and parts lubrication
- Thorough pre-shift daily checks are crucial to the longevity of our equipment
- Accountable for loading trucks and railcars accurately (proper weights), safely, efficiently, and communicate via radio to scale personnel for confirmation of material loaded and any issues that may come up
- Unload pipe trucks and trucks with oversize ferrous materials, safely and efficiently, clean (sweep) trailers of excess material
- Stockpile/sort metals and place in the designated areas
- Maintain accurate logs and records daily, weekly, and monthly and/or as required by supervisor

Requirements

- Completion of High School and/or equivalent




- Knowledge of yard operations
- Must have 2 years of experience operating heavy motorized equipment
- Must have a valid Driver's License.
- Knowledge and understanding of ferrous metals and classifications is an asset
