Start Date: August 27, 2026 WillowWood School is seeking an enthusiastic and caring High School English Teacher to join our collaborative faculty for the 2026–27 school year. WillowWood is a small independent school where we believe that one size does not fit all. Our teachers get to know their students well, collaborate closely with colleagues, and have the flexibility to create engaging learning experiences that meet students where they are.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career teacher looking to begin or grow their career in a supportive school environment, although experienced educators are equally encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will primarily teach English courses in Grades 9–12 and may also teach ESL/ELL courses or provide language support to English Language Learners. What You'll Do:
Plan and teach engaging English courses for students in Grades 9–12.
Help students develop confidence in reading, writing, communication, critical thinking, and media literacy.
Differentiate instruction to support a range of learning profiles and abilities.
Create a classroom environment that encourages discussion, creativity, curiosity, and student voice.
Assess student learning using the principles of Ontario's Growing Success.
Provide students and families with timely, constructive feedback.
Build positive relationships with students while maintaining clear and consistent expectations.
Collaborate with colleagues, Student Support staff, and school leadership.
Participate in staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, school events, and the broader life of the school.
As assigned, teach ESL courses or provide additional language support to English Language Learners. What We're Looking For:
A bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field.
Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification or eligibility for certification.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Enthusiasm for teaching English and working with adolescents.
A student-centred approach and willingness to differentiate instruction.
Strong relationship-building and classroom management skills.
A collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to the school community. Newly certified and early-career teachers are strongly encouraged to apply. Assets:

Previous experience teaching secondary English.
ESL/ELL qualifications or experience supporting multilingual learners.
Experience working with students with diverse learning profiles.
Additional English or Special Education qualifications.
