Pelee Island Winery & Vineyards Inc. is seeking a hands-on, approachable, and technologically capable HR Generalist to independently manage a broad range of human resources functions. This position works with unionized and non-union employees across our Kingsville and Pelee Island locations and serves as the primary HR contact for employees and managers.

The regular hours of work are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We offer a market-competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.

What You Will Do

- Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate sourcing and headhunting, ATS administration, screening, interviews, background checks, offers, onboarding, and offboarding.
- Administer full-cycle biweekly payroll for four employee groups using ADP Workforce Now, from timecard review and manager approvals through payroll previews, corrections, deductions, commissions, tips, expenses, retroactive pay, and final processing.
- Maintain accurate HRIS and employee records and prepare payroll, union, attendance, compensation, recruitment, headcount, and workforce reports.
- Manage employee benefits from enrolment through termination, as well as leaves of absence, vacation, medical documentation, workplace accommodations, and return-to-work plans.
- Provide employee and labor-relations guidance, maintain an open and welcoming HR environment, coach managers, conduct confidential investigations, interpret the collective agreement, communicate with the union, and administer grievances.
- Lead probationary, annual, 360-degree, and management evaluations; coordinate goal-setting and coaching; and manage progressive discipline, suspensions, performance improvement plans, and terminations.

functional abilities documentation, accommodations, modified duties, and return-to-work plans while serving as an active JHSC member and supporting inspections, work refusals, PPE, and OHSA compliance.
- Draft and implement HR and health and safety policies, procedures, employee-handbook updates, training programs, internal communications, team-building activities, and reward and recognition initiatives.
- Coordinate LMIAs and foreign-worker programs and provide the same complete range of HR services to employees and managers at both company locations.

What You Bring

- Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Labour Relations, or a related field, with approximately two to three years of progressive HR experience; active HRPA membership is preferred, and CHRP progress is an asset.
- Full-cycle payroll experience using ADP Workforce Now is asset.
- Tech-savvy, with previous experience using ATS, HRIS, payroll, and online learning-management systems plus robust Microsoft 365 skills; Workday or other HRIS experience is an asset.
- Experience supporting unionized and non-union employees, interpreting collective agreements, administering grievances, conducting investigations, and managing progressive discipline.
- Practical experience with benefits, leaves, WSIB claims, Forms 6 and 7, accommodations, and return-to-work programs, along with knowledge of Ontario employment, human rights, labour relations, accessibility, and health and safety legislation; JHSC experience is an asset.
- Strong judgment, confidentiality, organization, communication, problem-solving, manager-coaching, and relationship-management skills.
- Experience with LMIAs or foreign-worker programs and Spanish-language fluency are assets.
