PositionSummary:
Reportingto the Manager of Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator isresponsible for supporting the goals and direction of the Board’s strategicplan through overseeing recruitment of staff, employee orientation, andonboarding, and other human resources initiatives.
KeyResponsibilities:
- Support principals and managers with the internal andexternal recruitment of staff, including assisting with interviews andbackground checks during the selection process.
- Offer leadership, advice, and support with respect toadministering and interpreting applicable collective agreements, Boardprocedures, and relevant legislation as it pertains to staffing, recruitment,and employee retention.
- Coordinate onboarding and new employee orientationprocesses including staffing processes, training, policies and procedures andother matters related to employment.
- Lead and/or supports orientation and training to newemployees.
- Assess, identifies, collaborates, and discussesopportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems,processes and practices within the Recruitment function consideringproductivity improvement and the Board’s commitment to equitable hiring practices.
- Coordinate various recruitment events (online,off-site, may include occasional week-ends and evenings).
- Supports the review, updating and implementation andcommunication of relevant HR policies/procedures/programs to ensure consistencyand legislative compliance.
- Lead human resources initiatives and support a variety of specialprojects.
- Other responsibilities as assigned
RequiredQualifications
Education
- Three-year post-secondary diploma ordegree with focus in human resources management.
Experience
- Over two years of relatedprogressive experience in a rapid-paced work environment with recruitment,interviewing, employee retention programs, and administration of multi-unioncollective agreement provisions.
Knowledgeand Skills
- Develop employee knowledge of the Occupational Healthand Safety Act, Ontario Human Rights Act, Employment Standards Act, Workplace Safety and InsuranceAct, Municipal Freedomof Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), Accessibility forOntarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), other related employment laws andregulations.
- Lead with excellent interpersonal and communicationskills, including problem solving and conflict resolution.
- Process confidential materials and demonstratediplomacy, tact, and strong judgement.
- Standardize and maintain the use of spreadsheets,databases, data analysis and report writing.
- Demonstrateregular and consistent attendance
Additional requirement : Valid driver’s licence and the ability to travelindependently between multiple work locations and off-site events as required.
Salary Range: In accordance with the current non-unioncompensation schedule - $90,031 - $100,578 per year
