Job Overview The is an hourly, part-time, position that will primarily require evenings and weekend shifts. Starting mid-Sept through mid-March exact dates TBD.

The Ice Maker & Arena Attendantis responsible for custodial and general maintenance duties within the Eleanor Pew Morris Memorial Arena and other CMP facilities, as well as maintaining the arena’s ice surface and operating the ice resurfacer. They may also perform duties around Church Memorial Park as directed by the Manager, Park Operations or designate.

Duties

- Assist in the efficient operation of CMP facilities during his/her shift including communicating with the public
- Provide general and custodial maintenance within and surrounding the facility
- Responsible for, but not limited to, cleaning stands, removing debris, sweeping, mopping, cleaning dressing rooms, moving of nets for ice resurfacing, etc.
- Responsible for Ice Maintenance & Resurfacing
- Assist with installation and removal of the ice surface
- Assist with exterior building maintenance as needed which may include property maintenance such as snow and ice removal, and debris/garbage collection
- Assist with the set‐up/take‐down and operation of facilities functions, reception and event rentals
- Perform and/ or assist with minor equipment repairs, as required by CMP
- Record and report to the Manager, Park Operations or designate any incidents or situations that may affect the safe and effective operation of the facility




- Identify and log equipment or operating problems
- Perform and/or co-ordinate preventive maintenance and repairs on arena equipment to ensure reliable operation
- Complete required inspections and log sheets on scheduled intervals
- Ensure all public areas are clean and free of hazards
- Record and report to the Manager, Park Operations or designate any safety hazards
- Ensure public safety by following safety procedures and eliminating hazards
- Perform all duties in accordance with the Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Perform other duties as required by the Manager

Qualifications

- Highschool diploma
- 1-3 years job related experience
- Ice Makers Training Course, considered an asset
- Refrigeration Operators Certificate, considered an asset

Certifications/ Checks

- You are required to maintain a valid First Aid certificate (will cover course cost)
- You are required to have a valid WHMIS certificate (will cover course cost)
- You are required to obtain a Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check, subsequent checks may be required upon request
- You are required to obtain a Child Abuse Register Check, subsequent checks may be required upon request
- Valid Driver’s License

Pay: $20.50-$22.50 per hour
