Journeyman Powerline Technician
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, maintain, and repair poles, towers, power lines, cables, and related equipment (transformers,
switches, insulators, conductors)
- Splice and terminate conductors to connect transmission and distribution networks
- Perform stringing operations for both distribution and transmission circuits
- Operate vehicles and equipment such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, mobile cranes, and trenchers
- Follow industry standards, safe work practices, and regulations for high- and low-voltage systems
- Work independently or supervise others as required, often in remote or challenging environments
REQUIREMENTS
- Red Seal Journeyman Powerline Technician Trade Certification
- Minimum Class 3 Driver's Licence with air brakes and a clean driving abstract
- Experience with energized systems from 25kV to 230kV
- Physical capability to work at heights, climb poles, lift heavy objects, and operate specialized
equipment safely
- Knowledge of power transmission and distribution principles, construction techniques, and protected work
standards
- Must be willing to work a shift rotation of 28 days on and 14 days off, working 11- or 12-hour days
- Selected candidate will be required to sign up for IBEW membership
