About the Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Analytics Intern to support labour market research initiatives focused on strengthening the regional manufacturing sector and workforce ecosystem. This role offers hands-on experience in applying data analytics to real-world labour market challenges, contributing to evidence-based solutions that benefit employers, workers, and underrepresented populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of performance measurement frameworks to track labour market and workforce development outcomes
- Assist in data collection, integration, and analysis using multiple sources, including surveys, interviews, and labour market datasets
- Conduct job vacancy analysis and workforce trend assessments to identify skills gaps and emerging industry needs
- Contribute to generating employer-validated labour market intelligence that informs strategic planning
- Participate in stakeholder engagement activities, including employer consultations and validation sessions
- Develop data visualizations, dashboards, and reports to communicate insights effectively
- Support the creation of actionable recommendations and evidence-based strategies for long-term workforce planning
- Ensure all research outputs meet expectations for credibility, transferability, and knowledge sharing
Project Scope & Impact This role contributes to a regional initiative focused on strengthening manufacturing sector resilience through data-driven insights. The project uses structured and validated methodologies, including:
- Employer surveys and consultations
- Industry interviews and focus groups
- Job vacancy and labour demand analysis
- Validation sessions to confirm findings
The resulting intelligence will guide regional decision-making, inform workforce development strategies, and support inclusive labour market participation.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a program in Data Analytics, Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, or a related field
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with data tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, SQL, Python, or R) is an asset
- Ability to interpret and communicate data insights clearly
- Interest in labour market research, workforce development, and manufacturing sector trends
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
