The Ministry of the Solicitor General, seeks a motivated individual to provide payroll and personnel support services for the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre.

About the job

In this role, you will:

- Review, prepare and process a variety of human resources and payroll documents
- Record and verify employee attendance in the human resources database
- Verify payroll and salary information for accuracy
- Track attendance, salary and end dates for fixed-term contract employees
- Develop and retrieve reports
- Liaise with human resources and payroll professionals on employee issues
- Organize, maintain, update and ensure the safekeeping of personnel files and databases

Specialized Knowledge and Experience

- You have experience in providing a wide range of personnel, human resources and payroll support services
- You have knowledge of payroll, attendance and benefits processing requirements
- You have the ability to interpret and apply human resources policies and procedures, and collective agreements provisions

Research, Analytical, Problem-Solving, and Reasoning Skills

- You can verify human resources and payroll information in reports, spreadsheets or other sources to ensure accuracy
- You can identify, analyze and resolve errors in payroll and attendance documents, and respond to inquiries from staff concerning payroll and benefits related issues
- You have strong arithmetic skills to calculate and reconcile data related to payroll, attendance and employee benefit entitlements

Communication and Interpersonal Skills





- You can explain policies, procedures and practices to employees as they apply to pay and benefits
- You have solid writing skills to prepare memos and responses to inquiries
- You can resolve discrepancies or complaints effectively while maintaining confidentiality of personnel related information

Organizational and Time Management Skills

- You can organize, coordinate and complete work within established time frames and under minimal supervision

Computer Skills

- You are proficient with word processing, spreadsheets and email applications to prepare correspondence, input or extract payroll and attendance data, and produce reports
- You can use human resources databases to enter and track data
