About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a 91-year-old gentleman in Chateauguay, Quebec who is experiencing declining mobility. He uses a walker or wheelchair and requires assistance with daily activities. He speaks English and values his privacy. His wife, also 91, is the primary caregiver but needs support. The family is looking to start slowly to help him adjust to having a caregiver in the home.

Responsibilities:

- Assist with morning routine including getting dressed, putting on socks, and personal care
- Provide toileting and hygiene support
- Help with bathing
- Prepare and serve breakfast
- Support mobility and transfers using walker or wheelchair
- Encourage and assist with light physical activity (walking around the living room, standing exercises)
- Provide supervision for safety due to cognitive needs
- Offer companionship and engage in conversation
- Occasional transportation for errands or appointments

What We're Looking For:

- Male caregiver strongly preferred due to client's privacy concerns
- Calm, patient demeanor with ability to make the client feel comfortable
- Reliable and consistent
- Takes initiative when needed
- Experience with mobility assistance (walker/wheelchair)
- Experience with personal care and toileting support
- Understanding of cognitive support and safety supervision needs
- Vulnerable sector check required
- Comfortable working in Chateauguay (outside Montreal area)

Schedule:

Starting with Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (2 hours per visit). After a few weeks of adjustment,



the schedule will increase to three days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday), eventually building to more frequent visits as needed. This gradual approach allows the client to become comfortable with the caregiver and establish a trusting relationship.

The family is committed to finding the right fit and will participate in virtual meet-and-greets before any in-home visits begin. A companion already visits the mother at 1:00 PM, so the morning schedule works perfectly for the family's needs.

Schedule will start with 2 days per week (Tuesday/Thursday, 10am-12pm) for initial adjustment period, then gradually increase to 3 days per week (Monday/Wednesday/Friday). Mother (age 91) also lives in home and has separate companion care at 1pm. Family exploring CLSC funding options.
