The Physician Assistant (PA), Emergency, provides a variety of clinical duties and responsibilities within the PA scope of practice as defined by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC). Responsibilities include obtaining patient histories, performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, initiating treatments, and performing procedures in collaboration with and under the supervision of the on-shift emergency physician.

Ongoing learning is supported through journal clubs,

We recognize the importance of a structured and supportive onboarding process-particularly for new graduates-and are committed to providing mentorship, guidance, and progressive responsibility to support a confident transition into independent practice.

The starting salary range is approximately $102,116 - $124,808 commensurate with education, training, experience, and internal equity with similar roles.

FUNCTIONAL REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS The PA, Emergency, reports to the PA Emergency Program Physician Supervisor (or delegate) for matters related to clinical practice. During clinical shifts, the PA works in close collaboration with the attending Emergency Physician, who provides clinical oversight, support and shared accountability for patient care within the team-based emergency department environment. Administratively, the Physician Assistant, Emergency reports to the Manager, Clinical Operations (or delegated administrative leader) for matters related to quality of care and professional development.
