Job details Education: Other trades certificate or diploma.

Work site environment: Confined spaces. Noisy.

Work setting: Rural area. Food processing industry. Manufacturing and industrial plant.

Tasks: Co-ordinate maintenance activities of trade contractors. Read electrical schematics, blueprints and other technical diagrams. Analyze and record instrument readings and equipment malfunction. Assist during routine systems testing.

Assist in locating and isolating system problems. Assist in the development of operation, maintenance and safety procedures. Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment. Investigate problems to fix or make minor repair.

Maintain daily log of operation, maintenance and safety activities. Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctioning and to ensure plant systems are operating normally. Operate automated or computerized control systems.

Perform routine equipment maintenance. Regulate water levels. Start up and shut down power plant equipment. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Power Systems/Stations Operators Trade Certification.

Stationary

Engineer 4th Class.

Equipment and machinery experience: Alarms. Ammonia refrigeration. Chillers. Compressors. Condensers. Diesel generators. Electronic controls. Generators. Heat exchangers. High pressure boilers. Programmable logic controller (PLC). Pumps.

Area of specialization: Refrigeration.
